Bianco Porticello IGP
Tenuta di Castellaro
This wine is primarily made from Carricante (60%) and Moscato Bianco (40%). Unlike most white wines from Sicily, it beautifully intertwines the fragrant floral notes of Moscato Bianco with the mineral salinity and iodine characters of Carricante, reminiscent of summer sea breezes, offering a dual sensation of saltiness and sunshine. The grapes are sourced from Lipari Island in the Aeolian Islands of Sicily, situated at an altitude of about 350 meters. This area experiences a warm Mediterranean climate with significant diurnal temperature variation and is often windy throughout the year; the soil is deep volcanic sandy, well-drained, and rich in trace elements, imparting a unique mineral and maritime character to the grapes. All grapes are hand-harvested in September. In terms of vinification, a pneumatic press is used to directly press the whole fruit, and the juice is clarified by resting at 10-12 °C before fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 16-18 °C. Regular bâtonnage is performed during fermentation, with the wine left in contact with the lees for about six months to enhance body structure and creaminess; after bottling, the wine undergoes at least four months of bottle aging to achieve a rounded and balanced palate. The alcohol content is approximately 12.5% vol
